St. Patty's Day Books
Okay, so Hubby is the Mystery Reader at our daughter's school next Friday. He figured since it's the day before St. Patrick's Day, why not read some books about St. Patty's Day? Sort of give it a theme. We're not particularly Irish, but he's gonna pass out some shamrock pencils at the end, too. So we checked the library and of course every St. Patrick's Day book is checked out. So I checked Amazon.com and found some. These are good little paperbacks, as I didn't want to spend a fortune on a one-time Mystery reader gig. So here goes:
It's St. Patrick's Day by Rebecca Gomez --This is a Scholastic reader, not too wordy, with pleasant illustrations It's a Level 1 Scholastic book, perfect for those beginner readers.
Jack and the Leprechaun by Ivan Robertson. Cute little tale about a town getting ready for their St. Patty's Day festivities-- oh yes, and it features and a pesky little leprechaun.
By the way, I think there is really a market for children's St. Patrick's Day-themed books. I did walk through Barnes and Noble and only saw a few. Note to aspiring children's writers, this could be your niche.
On a final note, is it just my house or are your kids fascinated by the prospect of trying to "catch" a leprechaun? My daughter made a leprechaun trap and is waiting patiently...... for what, I'm not sure.
